在大型海藻中首次建立由生殖细胞介导的外源基因稳定表达系统,为藻类基因与重要调控元件的功能验证、藻类特色表达系统的构建奠定了重要方法学基础;针对我国近海致灾性大型海藻藻华,经学科交叉,利用卫星遥感发现黄海存在冷涡的证据,提出冷涡参与绿潮藻早期汇聚与营养盐获取的假说,获《Science》杂志的积极评述;经遗传分析提出黄海绿潮由浒苔单一“漂浮生态型”主导的重要认识;通过特异分子标记示踪,量化揭示了绿潮藻在暴发全过程中的遗传组成与时空分布规律,评估了“漂浮生态型”的北侵风险,提出漂浮生态型在苏北浅滩筏架春季的检出占比是可用于绿潮规模预测的生物学指标;揭示了致灾藻共附生菌群的结构特征与变化规律,提示菌群功能与宿主暴发密切相关;已报导石莼属绿藻多个新记录种,提出了绿潮藻在我国海域规模化生物入侵与扩散的最新趋势。上述原创性发现为揭示大型海藻藻华灾害的生态过程与暴发机制、实现科学防控提供了重要理论依据。
