(1) Workshop on East Asia LOICZ Study, 1999, Qingdao, China Sponsor: LOICZ-IPO Participants: Japan, Korea, Russia, Vietnam and China ActivitiesPicture1

(2) Symposium on LOICZ, 2002, Mt. Laoshan, Qingdao, China. Professor. Pacyna attended the symposium as the representative of the LOICZ-IPO and ELOISE.

(3) Chinese Delegation on LOICZ organized and led by CJLC visited Vietnam in 1999 and 2001. A cooperative research agreement for promoting the LOICZ researches in Yangtze and Mekong Estuaries and adjacent seas was preliminarily signed and then approved in the China-Vietnam Intergovernmental Scientific and Technological Cooperation Framework.

(4) CJLC members actively participated international meetings including:

2) Project promotion

(1) JGOFS and LOICZ have been well known in and financially supported by Chinese Science society. About 40%, 66.7% and 50% key projects of NSFC in marine science are the JGOFS and LOICZ related projects in financial years 1990-1995, 1996-2000 and 2001-2005, respectively.

(2) The LOICZ and Carbon Cycle researches were included in the Guidance of Chinese National Main Basic Study Programme since 2001. Two state-level projects on the LOICZ and Carbon Cycle researches were approved in 2002.

(3) LOICZ and JGOFS (Carbon Cycle) were included in the NSFC programme on Global Change and Regional Response starting in 2001.
