The Marine Biological Specimen Museum, CAS
        The Marine Biological Specimen Museum, CAS is a base of science and education for scientists and students in marine biota, bio-geography, and bio-diversity. The museum currently holds over 700 000 specimens, including 1 100 type specimens with 2 300 items, collected in major Chinese marine scientific expeditions in the past, and from 54 countries/regions including two Polar areas. It is currently the number one in China in scale and the largest one in content in Asia. Integrating specimen collection, biological research, and marine science education/dissemination, the museum is a multifunctional large modern facility.
        The museum has been a hosting working place for many China’s best and renowned taxonomists and has played key roles in documenting Chinese marine laws and regulations, marine right protection, and in/export supervision, and in educating/training high-level professionals from all over the world.
